Sunny Hill / Childrens Day 8

This morning when the team stopped by on their rounds, they said they would send Elizabeth off for the X-ray today and make her another sling, to better support her hand to take the pressure off of her shoulder and clavicle.

Here is the new sling, including the faux sheep skin for the back of her neck.

Janet and Elizabeth went to Childrens for the X-ray at 1 pm and ended up spending the afternoon there. The arm is broken, it was the ulna near a growth plate by the wrist, which is good I understand. They then waited in emergency while the X-ray was read and a decision on how to proceed was made. It was decided that the bone was aligned correctly so it didn't need to be reset and they put a cast on it, but they are going to review the X-ray tomorrow to make sure the right decision was made. There will also be a follow up in 3 weeks to check how the healing is going. Since the bone wasn't manipulated there should not be any swelling which would be bad under the cast.

I made it to Childrens just after six so Janet could head home. They had just finished the cast and were preparing to discharge Elizabeth. The nurse called for a cab and got Elizabeth some Tylenol. The cab ride back was quite bumpy with all the street construction and the stop and go driving. Elizabeth was not hungry for any dinner, I guess she had be complaining of an upset stomach since the ride over to Childrens so off to bed she went.

Here is Elizabeth's new cast, we are going to have to have to keep a blanket between her and the cast or put tape on the sharp parts of the fiberglass cast.
