Childrens Day 4

Elizabeth had an active day, she was able to pull herself up into a sitting position. Then she soon learned to slide around, always heading for a corner of  the bed where there is a hole in the railing, to make an escape?
The left arm/shoulder isn't as sore today, Elizabeth has rolled over, no crying. Elizabeth now moves around with out moaning, when we try to contain/control she does start to moan in protest.

The day nurse brought us some mouth wash/tooth paste and swabs/tooth brushes to clean Elizabeth's teeth and mouth, Elizabeth is pretty good, but every so often she will bite down on the swab.

I got in this evening, to a great chicken dinner that Tom made, Susan would have helped but stayed with Janet to help with Elizabeth, cousin Janet also stopped by. Elizabeth was active and somebody was usually up with her during dinner.

Elizabeth tried to remove her feeding tube a couple times today. The night nurse said if she does manage to get it out not to worry they will leave it out for a bit and re-insert a new one.

After everyone left, except cousin Janet, the nurse brought in the wheel chair and Elizabeth sat up in bed by pushing down with the right arm (instead of pulling up by grabbing the railing) and we got her onto the wheel chair and when for a ride.

Elizabeth was very interested as we left the room but we made a stop by a supply closet and she leaned back and when to sleep.

We went back to the room and she slept in the chair for 30 minutes, now back in bed.
Physiotherapy will be by tomorrow for an evaluation.
The afternoon nurse suggested bringing in Elizabeth's music box and a few favourite CDs, the evening nurse said that to much stimulation could be bad. So there is a balance that we need to aim for.

Elizabeth is getting more helpful when the nurse comes in to do the evaluations, allowing the blood pressure monitor and thermometer, but still dislikes the light in the eyes. She has hi-fived the nurse, with a little coaxing after the evaluation. Now the evaluations are down to every 6 hours, the first night in ICU was every hour.
