Childrens Day 10

Elizabeth spoke again this morning, then a few more times through the day. She still thrashes about and gets agitated when we won't let her move off the bed, she starting to push a hit which is one of the stages. She also likes to try to remove the feeding tube so it is a constant battle to keep her sitting and her hand off of her face when she gets into that state.

I just realized that Elizabeth has her eyes open most of the time she is active, which is a big change from ICU when we were waiting for her to open them on her own.

Elizabeth is getting better with the Yes / No board, aunt Kim is also asking her to blink for yes too. This is how they found out that Elizabeth needed to go to the washroom when she was trying to remove her diaper. So Janet and aunt Kim helped her get into the washroom where she did her business.

Elizabeth is sitting much straighter and holding her head up too, now we need to have more movement on the left side, the left arm is still quite limp.

Elizabeth also dialed the phone to call the neighbour and said "Ok" when he told to get better.

When we were brushing her teeth with a foam scrubby, she was sucking on the foam so we were wondering if she was thirsty, when Elizabeth said "Can I please have some water". So we soaked the scrubby in water a few times which she enjoyed, then gave her a few drops in a cup and some ice cubes. We will have to ask the dietitian how much water she is allowed.

Sorry, no pictures today, but today was our anniversary, 12 years, Janet and I were able to slip off for brunch and this evening Janet's sister Susan even had a cake for us. Tomorrow when are going to see Sunny Hill.
