Childrens Day 9

Elizabeth spoke to me this morning, I think she was dreaming or had just woke up. She asked about "mum's teeny weeny scissor's", her speech good and I could understand every word. Later in day she also said "brush" and some other words that weren't as easy to understand to mum after her hair wash.

Elizabeth is also now able to count to three with her fingers and this evening she spontaneously waved to the brother of the boy in the room next door when they came to say hi. It turns out that they are from Aldergrove too.

The feed last night was trying after the new softer feeding tube was inserted, but the morning feed was quite easy as Elizabeth lay on her bed for the whole time (no rolling, no crying or any wheel chair rides) even after the morning vitals and blood work. This afternoon Elizabeth pulled out another feeding tube so they put the tube in the other nostril to give the left side of her face a break from the tape that holds the tube in place.

Mum's mission on the day shift was to get Elizabeth bathed.

It was after Elizabeth's hair was dry and the nurse was brushing it that Elizabeth spoke her sentence with the "brush" word. Janet was using the Yes / No board to ask Elizabeth if she wanted her hair brushed or not, and when Elizabeth got frustrated with trying to point at Yes or No that she spoke.
